Assessment of the Existing structure

Most of these PTs are created on saline patches where there is not much percolation. The main objective of these PTs to provide water to the wildlife during the summer season, hence created at saline areas. Only 25% of the PTs are on streams which are on 1st order as well on 2nd order streams. Where there are some PTs on 1st and 2nd order streams, no treatment is there on catchment areas. It is observed that 85% of the catchment area water is directly going in to the Godavari river with out any SMC structure.

There are several streamlets formed over a period of time and causing lot of soil erosion.
Conducted study on watershed management in the Division
Collected GPS locations of all PTs created over a period of time.
Mapped all the PTs with the help of Google map and data collection from the field using GIS platform.
Segregated the PTs which are having reasonably sufficient catchment areas.
